Why Hello There! 🙂 Welcome to our First Blog Post!
I’m Jason McDonald , the CEO of Boost Sales Consulting! Boost is a full service Sales and Marketing Consulting Firm that helps companies grow revenues. You can learn more about our services here. Below, I’m going to introduce myself, tell you why I founded the company, and explain what you can expect to find in this blog.
My background in a nutshell… Where the heck do I start. The short version of the story is I served (4) years in the Marine Corps, then started working in Tech Start-ups in Southern CA, and ended up being in the right place at the right time & helping one company go from $0 to $40 Million in Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR). Since then, I’ve helped build a couple of more sales teams in the technology space. One of the things I’ve noticed is that start-up companies often lack the infrastructure necessary to allow them to scale their business. This is something I look forward to helping other firms build. I have a lot of experience building the infrastructure and processes necessary to help companies successfully scale.
Why I founded Boost
For the past 10 years I’ve been helping build Tech. Start-Ups as a VP of Sales. I’ve built multiple teams, and some would ask me why the heck I would want to leave a successful career during the prime of my professional life to start a Sales Consulting Company? Who walks away from a six figure salary, stock options, all sorts of perks to start a firm? I do! But why? Short answer – I want to leverage all of the valuable knowledge I’ve amassed during the past 10 years to help more people. Statiscially, I can help more companies succeed if I’m an advisor to several firms than I could if I were just the head of sales at one company. Oh, and there’s the “autonomy” thing. I put autonomy in air quotes so as to sarcastically suggest that’s not all the important. But the truth is, as Daniel Pink explained in his book Drive autonomy is one of the key drivers for happiness. So, yes, autonomy is a big part of the reason I decided to launch my own firm.
The real epiphany I recently had, and the reason I decided I wanted to launch a sales consulting firm, was that my driving force for being alive is to help other people. The more I’ve contemplated on this seemingly simple goal, the more it’s become obvious to me that if my motives are always to help people, I’ll remain very fulfilled and motivated by my work.
